Sometime in January UK TV channel “ITV” gathered some of our favorites from the cast of Baywatch for a reunion special of “Where are they now?” the show reunited; Erika Eleniak, Nicole Eggert, Alexandra Paul, Jaason Simmons, Gena Lee Nolin and David Chokachi back on the beach where they made their names and secured their places in pop culture history for decades to come. We’ve added some photos from the episode to a special new gallery and of course we will be adding the video for those of you who didn’t manage to see the show. Overall, not a long reunion but hopefully a mark of things to come.

Douglas Schwartz, the innovative and iconic writer/director/producer who celebrates his 70th birthday this year and is known for “Soul Surfer,” “Baywatch,” “Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding,” “Manimal,” “The Wizard,” “Thunder in Paradise” and “Sheena,” is not resting on his laurels. Far from it.

That’s not surprising, since entertainment is in his DNA. His father, Al Schwartz, and uncle, Sherwood Schwartz, were a writing team in TV’s famed 1950s golden age. Al, while working for Bob Hope, arranged for Sherwood, then a college student, to be hired. Sherwood went on to create such memorable shows as ‘The Brady Bunch’ and ‘Gilligan’s Island.’

At first, it appeared that the drama Baywatch was going to drown on network television when it was cancelled by NBC after one season in 1990. The show’s creators thought the show still had potential of building an audience and sold it into syndication a year later in 1991. The series ended up becoming one of the most popular shows in the 1990’s and started the careers of Pamela Anderson, Alexandra Paul, and many others. So what has the cast been up since the series sailed off the air in 2001? Here is a look at what your favorite red bathing suit wearing lifeguards have been doing for the last decade.

Michael Newman reveals all about Baywatch

By admin, on October 29th, 2014, under Baywatch News

    Baywatch News

Real life Baywatch hunk Michael Newman has given a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of the 1980s TV hit.
The former LA lifeguard starred in a never-before seen ‘teaser tape’ that was used to sell Baywatch to TV chiefs.
Now 59, Michael was a regular stand-in for David Hasselhoff because of the star’s ‘chicken legs’ – and even taught Baywatch bombshell Pamela Anderson how to run on the beach.

Michael – affectionately nicknamed Newmie – said: ‘There were many times when Alex Daniels, who was David’s stunt double on the show, and I filmed dangerous scenes together, and I would be driving a powerful race boat and Alex would be having to jump down into the boat going at some 60mph from a 70ft cliff edge and not land in the ocean, then he has to trust me to the right place at just the right time.
‘Most of the time, when you saw Hasselhoff’s legs, you were often looking at my own legs. Hasselhoff always had very skinny chicken legs!’
Newmie also worked as a technical advisor on Baywatch and admitted that although slender, many of the actors weren’t fit enough for the show – so he had to put them through his own training camp.

Baywatch at 25: the story of the iconic swimsuit

By admin, on September 29th, 2014, under Baywatch News

    Baywatch News

It’s become an iconic piece of clothing, copied by numerous swimwear lines, written about in fashion bibles like Glamour, outfitted on an official Barbie doll, and even donned memorably (and a little horrifyingly) by Matt Lauer as a Halloween costume on Today last October.

But that red one-piece swimsuit the female stars of Baywatch made so famous in their slow-motion runs along the beach had much more humble beginnings. It was designed to look exactly like the swimsuits worn by real-life California beach lifeguards.
