Sean and Jenna are in the middle of performing a daring rescue in the midst of pounding surf. Sean sees that he will not be able to bring in a couple with one trip, so he uses the waves to raise the boyfriend up high enough to where he can cling on to rocks while Sean brings his girlfriend to safety. After the girl is saved, Sean returns for the boy, again using the waves to his advantage. Jenna then spots a surfboard uprighted in the water like a tombstone. Beneath the surfboard is another boy, trapped by his toe line. He, too, is rescued just in time. Sean and Jenna, exhausted, climb back on the Luhrs and head back to shore.
Sean is planning to go to Maui for the weekend to attend a conference on the prevention of drowning to be hosted by Martha Reynolds. Secretly, he and Jenna plan to spend some quality time together as well, but Sean is not ready for the rest of the team to know. Dawn, however, has figured everything out and is determined to thwart Sean’s plans for romance. She convinces the other team members to come up with a variety of activities to keep Sean busy. Then, she arranges to have all of their rooms connecting. Sean, though, does not seem at all perturbed by her arrangements or the activities that everyone else has planned. Jenna, knowing that Dawn knows everything, lets her know about the plans she and Sean have for the weekend. This only fuels Dawn’s determination to keep Sean busy!
There has been another daring rescue. Now, Sean, Jenna, Kekoa and Newmie are cleaning up the debris. Jenna, sotto voce, tells Sean that they can postpone their amorous plans for another time. But Sean remains adamant about going. The one problem he faces is the fact that they want him to give his speech. He is still not ready to let the rest of the team know about what happened to his son. Jenna encourages him to tell, feeling it will unburden him.
The team arrives in Maui. Sean and Jenna trade furtive glances while they are whisked away in separate cabs. Sean stops to buy all the girls leis. As he purchases them, they hear “But Will You Love Me Tomorrow” on the radio. He does an impromptu (but romantic) dance with Jenna while Jason does a more exuberant dance with the other girls. Dawn remains focused on Sean and Jenna.
Finally able to break away from the group, Sean and Jenna go to spend some time alone, having a picnic. Sean sits with his head in Jenna’s lap while they talk about Hawaiian folklore. Just as Jenna is about to lead Sean to a secluded romantic spot, they hear screams emanating from a nearby cave.
They arrive at the cave overlooking the ocean. A tourist tells Sean that a group of people-maybe four or five-are trapped inside the cave. Sean calls Jason for back up. Jason immediately springs into action and gets Allie and Kekoa. Sean and Jenna go into the cave. Unfortunately, their Nextels will no longer work. They find the female hikers trapped in a small space above a water tunnel (volcanic tube) that leads straight out to the ocean. Jenna almost gets caught in the cascade. Sean realizes the only way to save the people is to climb where they are and bring them out one at a time to where he and Jenna are standing. It is an arduous task and Sean gets increasingly tired with each person. The final victim has hurt her back, so Sean needs Jenna’s help. Fortunately, Jason and Kekoa arrive. Allie is flying in her helicopter, waiting outside with the Coast Guard for them. As Sean and Jenna bring the final victim out, the thin rope that Sean had been using to climb separates from the wall. Jenna is catapulted down the cascade. Sean hands the final victim off to Jason and goes after her. Jason leads the girls to safety and tells Allie that Sean and Jenna have disappeared. She, Kekoa and the Coast Guard mount a large scaling of the area, waiting to see where Sean and Jenna emerge.
Sean has found Jenna. She is unconscious. He fights to resuscitate her, hoping against hope she isn’t dead, now that he has found someone to love. She comes to. He is over-whelmed with happiness. They realize they are near another waterfall. They cling to each other as they go tumbling down. They wind up near a grating that leads to the sea. They break it open and find themselves on the beach, where they share a romantic reun-ion.
Allie and Jason see them, and tell everyone to back off. It is obvious that Sean and Jenna need some well deserved time alone.
