We are in the Waimea Valley, one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Kayaking through this paradise is RUSSELL PETERSON, a young man holding a video camera. He is describing and pointing out all the beautiful things to his girlfriend/fiancée/wife, whom he will show the tape as soon as he gets back to the mainland. He wedges the camera onto the front of the kayak. Soon, he notices he is not where he should be-he is on a tributary. Ahead, he sees a waterfall. He frantically tries to paddle backwards, but can’t. He screams, the video camera recording everything. He grabs on to a branch and watches as the kayak topples over the falls and smashes. The branch breaks, and he, too, goes over the edge. Fortunately, he lands on a ledge, but his leg is broken and he is wounded. The only sign that he is there is his arm, sticking out through the water.
Because of their brave actions in saving the kids off the Na Pali Coast, the Baywatch guards have been offered an all-expenses paid weekend at a four star hotel. Jessie, still training for the triathlon, is looking for JD to come and paddleboard with her, but he is too busy having a mud wrap. Kekoa instantly offers to join her. The two women look each other over, and we know this will be no ordinary paddleboarding session. Even before they hit the water, they are trying to one-up each other.
Allie and Sean go for a wilderness hike. Allie tells him she is looking for a place called Keakuapoli, a place where the ancient Hawaiians supposedly kept all their wealth. She has been doing research on this treasure for a long time (mostly on the internet). Sean willingly agrees to join her on her quest. They arrive at a high point on the Na Pali Coast. Allie broaches the subject of Sean’s wife, but he won’t elaborate.
Russ, meanwhile, is starting to shiver from shock. He realizes the sound of the water is so loud, no one can possibly hear him. He awaits his fate.
Jessie and Kekoa come to a sandbar. Rather than taking a moment to rest, both women rush across to the other side. Finally, they reach a bend in the river. Both boats collide. They fall into the water. Exhausted and laughing, they realize how foolish it is to fight over JD. The rest of their trip will be fun.
Using their day off, JD and Jason go out to have some fun. But first, JD gets Jason to lose his silly T-shirt, jeans and cowboy hat look. He gets him to buy a “woody” aloha shirt, so called because it depicts the old wooden station wagons surfers used to carry their boards. The shirt is rather rare. The two men come across three pretty women try-ing to launch their boat. They gallantly offer to help. Unfortunately, the women knew nothing about sailing, so they have not replaced the plug at the bottom of the boat. It sinks. Later, JD sees Jason playing with a cigarette, trying to look cool. JD thinks smoking is a bad idea, but Jason insists that he has to do something for his image.
Sean and Allie are now at the high country. On the path, Allie sees some ancient writing or symbols carved into the rock. They go further and find the entrance to a cave. With-out wasting any time, they go inside.
Sean and Allie find themselves in the Blue Room, a magical place inside the cave. They find a pond. Allie takes off her shirt (she’s wearing a bikini top underneath) and jumps in. They go exploring in the beautiful water. At the bottom, they see some large urns, but no treasure. Allie is sure she is on the right track.
Jason and JD come across another pair of pretty teenage girls who are distressed: their cat is stuck on the top mast of their boat and can’t get down. Jason and JD think quickly and jerry rig a way to latch on to the mast and slowly tip the boat so the girls can reach the cat. Moments before the boat is low enough, their contraption snaps and the cat is cata-pulted across the water to the opposite shore. The girls are not pleased with the help the boys gave them. Besides, one of the girls points out she never dates men who smoke. So much for Jason’s “new image.”
Jessie and Kekoa see Russ’ damaged kayak. Wedged in the front is still the video cam-era. Kekoa looks at the tape and is shocked to see what could have been Russ’ final mo-ments. She and Jessie hear the waterfall nearby and waste no time rushing to it. They see Russ’ arm sticking out of the water. They know he is badly injured and there is no time to waste. They decide to bring him down as best they can. Russ is conscious, but knows he cannot help them. Jessie takes him in a fireman’s carry. About half way down, they slip and fall. The three land in the water. Kekoa helps Jessie get out from under Russ, and the two of them bring him to the surface. Using their natural innovation, they tie their two paddle-boards together, put him in the middle, and head out. Now, they are teammates rather than competitors. When they get to the sand bar, it is obvious one of them will have to go alone to get some help. Jessie runs off and finds some people. In no time, emergency personnel are on their way.
Allie and Sean have found some containers, but haven’t had a chance to bring them up yet. Suddenly, an HAWAIIAN MAN calls out, asking them what they are doing in the cave. Allie and Sean both explain their treasure hunting. The man says they have indeed found Keakuapoli, but the treasures buried there are not the gold and jewels they expect, but things that are significant to Hawaiian culture. The Hawaiian man hopes they did not touch any of the urns, for they were used for burial and are Pakalaki-bad luck. Fortu-nately, Sean and Allie did not touch them.
