Nicole Pays Tribute to Newmie

Following the tragic death of her “Baywatch” co-star Michael Newman on Sunday, October 20, Nicole Eggert has shared a heartfelt tribute. In a statement to The Post, she described Newman, known as “Newmie,” as an inspiration and a beacon of strength.

“From his knowledge, skill, and willingness to share to his long fight with Parkinson’s disease, he was a beacon of strength,” Eggert said. “The beaches will never be the same, and my heart goes out to his family at this time of tremendous loss.”

Eggert expressed her condolences and shared her belief that Newman’s memory would live on: “May he rest easy and forever continue to catch waves.”

Newman, who was also a lifeguard in real life, passed away after an 18-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Close friend Matthew Felker, who directed the Hulu docuseries about “Baywatch,” announced his passing.

According to Felker, Newman died from heart complications on Sunday evening surrounded by his loved ones. In a touching moment, he recalled Newman’s last conscious words to him: “You’re just in time.”

Despite his diagnosis with Parkinson’s in 2006, Newman remained optimistic, cherishing the time he had with family and friends. As Eggert noted, Newman’s words of wisdom, such as “It’s not a run-through,” continue to inspire.

Eggert herself has faced health challenges, revealing in January that she had been diagnosed with Stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer. She has expressed her reliance on inspirational quotes to navigate her own journey.
