Quarantine

The Baywatch lifeguards are forming an Over-The-Line team to compete in an upcoming event and give JD a tryout for the open slot. But despite his professed prowess, JD turns out to be rather clumsy in his audition – the beginning of what will become a very bad day. Mitch and Jordan rescue a struggling swimmer by the name of Omar after he is sucked under the waves. Mitch brings him to shore and Jordan gives him the mouth-to-mouth, which although it brings him back, they realize his condition is much more serious when he undergoes a series of spasms and other symptoms. They send him off to the hospital for further treatment and testing.

After returning to headquarters, Mitch encounters the world’s most irritating medical supplies salesman, Ed Symes. He’s obnoxious, pushy, and tries to make pathetic attempts to flirt with the female lifeguards. Meanwhile JD is preparing to take the tower on a beach where a photo shoot with gorgeous models is planned for the afternoon. He enters Baywatch headquarters where he meets up with Mitch, Donna, Jordan, April, and Ed – and receives news that everyone at Baywatch Headquarters is quarantined. No one involved with the rescue of Omar, or who has come in contact with anyone who rescued Omar can leave the building – they may be carrying a deadly disease. Tests are underway and the results are promised in a few hours.

Everyone’s plans are disrupted: Donna has tickets for the Rolling Stones concert that night, JD can’t get to the beach to spend time with models, and April’s meeting with California Lifestyles, a company interested in her shoe designs, is in jeopardy. April is furious that she will miss her meeting and tries to sneak out of the building, but Disease Control officers turn her back. And Ed Symes is everywhere, annoying everyone, making the quarantine experience even more unbearable. JD stands helpless with jealousy as Newman oversees the photo shoot. To make matters worse, Newman gets to play hero when some huge waves soak the beach and the models need to be rescued. They thank Newman with kisses and hugs while JD fumes. The tests are inconclusive and the lifeguards have to spend the night. Tempers flare as everyone is under the strain of not knowing if they have the disease. JD watches as Newman goes out to a “thank-you” dinner with the models. JD and Donna miss their Rolling Stones concert.

After a rough night, Newman enters the headquarters, waking everybody up to tell them the quarantine is off – Omar had food poisoning, nothing more. When they realize the quarantine was lifted hours ago and Newman just let them sleep, they pick up the nearest objects, April’s shoe collection, and throw them at him.
