Jason and Zack fight over a beautiful hiker who might just be using them; Kekoa and JD reaffirm their relationship following a misunderstanding revolving around a watch Jessie gave to JD; and Sean finds himself frantically trying to get the Baywatch computer back on line before an important donor shows up.
Sean and Brian have just completed the daring rescue of MATT, a twelve year old boy who had gotten a little too excited with his birthday present: a wind surfboard. The boy is impressed that he was rescued by “the” Brian Keaulana. Brian and Sean, meanwhile, are looking over the new computer system, designed by Zack and paid for by HAROLD SCHUSTER, the center’s biggest donor. Brian asks Sean how to use the banner ads at top. He tries to click on one. The system suddenly crashes. With Schuster coming later that afternoon, this is a major disaster.
Zack, meanwhile, is with Jason, JD and Kekoa. They are with Schuster’s spoiled daugh-ter, BRIT, taking her on a hiking trip to the Waimea Valley on Kauai. Both Zack and Jason are hot for Brit, and she makes sure she plays with the two of them. She is also extremely well equipped, carrying with her a hand-held GPS (global positioning satellite) system. They decide to hike to the top of a local peak. JD and Kekoa will stay behind. As the day wears on, each of the boys thinks that Brit is more interested in him than the other. This culminates in a mutual skinny dipping session.
After that, Zack overhears Brit talking on her cell phone to her boyfriend MARK. He tries to tell Jason, who assumes this is but another ploy. The two guys get into a knock down drag out, giving Brit the opportunity to make a break for Mark, who has arrived by helicopter. The guys see her running and chase after her. At the helicopter, Mark takes her knapsack, which is filled with money for their elopement, and then locks the door on her. He has betrayed her. She grabs on to the skids at the bottom of the helicopter as it takes off, trying to get her knapsack back from Mark. Jason and Zack leap on as well. As they start flying over the water, Jason sees that they had better jump off while they can. With a last tug, she grabs the knapsack away from Mark and the three go plunging into the water below. Back safely on the beach, she confesses that she has been betrayed her whole life: she has never met a man who liked her for who she is; just what her father could buy. The guys understand her for the first time, and a friendship is born.
Back at the base camp, JD and Kekoa are in the middle of a row that threatens to boil over at any moment. It turns out that in the morning, she had taken a look at his watch and had seen it was given to him by Jessie. She thinks JD is not really interested in her-or if he is, it is just as an “island girl” fling. JD tries to convince her that she’s wrong, but she points out that he has kept the watch and doesn’t seem about to give it up. In the middle of her tirade, Kekoa slips and falls into a spring. JD tries to help, but she refuses his hand. Finally, in desperation, he throws away the watch and pulls her back to safety. She realizes he really does love her, and the two of them make love. He proposes to her, but she says she needs a little time. Later, after a still-quarreling Jason and Brit return, Kekoa feigns an injury so she can be alone with JD for a bit. At that time, she tells him she accepts his proposal.
Sean gets Leigh to vamp with Schuster-anything to give them more time. Matt comes back. At first, Sean and Brian try to blow him off, but then he starts giving them advice on how to get the computer to work. Voila, moments before Schuster walks into the center, Matt has the system up and running. A grateful Sean and Brian offer to give him wind surfboarding lessons themselves.
