Silent Night, Baywatch Night

Written by Deborah Bonann Schwartz

As Christmas Day approaches, Mitch and Tracy fall in love. Mitch and Hobie then discover that the lost young boy whom they are letting stay at their house is actually a juvenile con artist. Meanwhile, a young priest expresses interest in CJ, and a group of little people instigate a Christmas surprise for Matt.

After Matt finishes a rescue, he and Hobie see a young boy under his tower being harrassed by a thug. Matt and Hobie run over and break up the fight. The boy, Joey, claims the thug was trying to steal the last five dollars he had. Joey says that he and his mom got separated when they were at the bus terminal, and he took the wrong bus, ending up at the beach by accident.

Hobie offers to take him home and let him stay overnight until his mom can come get him. Little does Hobie know, however, that Joey is a juvenile con artist whose mother is in jail after stealing thousands of dollars from a local bookie. When Hobie brings Joey home, Mitch and Hobie are in for even more surprises. Loud music, cigarettes, and the revelation that Joey…is a girl.

Meanwhile, CJ is working with a group of kids who have been brought to Baywatch from a local church. As she assists them in decorating headquarters and wrapping presents, an attractive man in swim trunks compliments CJ on her knack for working with kids, and introduces himself as Father Ryan. CJ is taken aback, as Ryan doesn’t exactly fit the priestly image, but she is pleased to know that they will be working with the children over the Christmas season.

A group of dwarves comes to the beach and one of them, Benny, strikes up a pleasant conversation with Matt. He finds the dwaves to be afun-loving Beny, burner above aling we hte are an whautsy tie, of year satre turning wheels in Matt’s mind. Could thesy possibly be Santa’s elves?

Mitch also finds himself falling in love with Tracy. She expresses a desire to see a white Christmas, but her plans to do so are crushed when she is unable to make it back to Connecticut. Mitch now has to figure out a way to bring a white Christmas to the beach.

Christmas Day arrives at Baywatch and brings surprises for everyone: Mitch tries to reunite Joey and his mother, CJ worries that Father Ryan is giving up the priesthood for her, and Mat wonders if a group of dwarves visiting the beach are actually Santa’s elves.

After Matt and Hobie rescued a young boy from an attack by a thug under Matt’s tower, Hobie took the young boy, Joey, home, since he had no place to go because he and his mom got separated at the bus terminal. Joey told Hobie that he took the wrong bus and ended up at the beach by accident. In reality, Joey is a con artist whose mother is in jail for stealing thousands of dollars from a local bookie. Also, Joey isn’t a boy, either, but a girl. Joey finally spills the beans to Mitch about who she really is after Mitch rescues both Hobie and her from the catwalks underneath the Santa Monica pier. Now that Joey’s cover is blown, Mitch and Hobie take her to Baywatch, where Mitch attempts to track down Joey’s mom. While helping wrap presents, Joey hides $10,000 of stolen money into one of them.

CJ and a young attractive priest have been working together with local children for the Christmas holidays. It seems to CJ that the priest, Father Ryan, is falling in love with her. When he confesses to CJ that he is considering giving up the priesthood to pursue a relationship, CJ is concerned that he is doing it for her. She doesn’t know how he will handle hearing that she is already involved with Matt.
Matt suspects that a group of dwarves that had come to the beach are really Santa’s elves. CJ thinks that Matt has lost it. But the next day, Matt opens his lifeguard tower to find it fully decorated, complete with a tree and Christmas card from Benny and his friends. Is this an elaborate practical joke? Or is Matt right after all? He should know the answer when Christmas arrives.

When Christmas day arrives, Mitch has a surprise for Tracy-snow on the beach! Tracy is overwhelmed by this expression of love from Mitch, but her joy is mixed with sadness, since she is carrying a deep secret that she can’t share with Mitch, at least for now.
