Romance is in the air at Baywatch as Mitch and Jackie’s friendship grows more intense, Summer and Matt begin a relationship, and Hobie falls in love with Lauren, a junior lifeguard with a devastating secret.
When Jackie Quinn grows impatient with Mitch’s slow-moving approach toward their relationship, she consults with CJ who advises her to be more aggressive and to invite him to “Lover’s Cove,” a romantic spot up the coast. Meanwhile, Matt and Summer’s relationship grows more intense and they must grapple with the ramifications of being co- workers, best friends, and lovers, all the while aware that Slade will be returning in only a few weeks.
Hobie also has the love-bug. In junior lifeguards he meets Lauren, a beautiful young teenager who instantly falls for him. What Hobie doesn’t know is that Lauren has been sent to Los Angeles as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants wishes to terminally ill children. Together, Lauren and Hobie share a wonderful few days of friendship, lifeguarding, and romance. But when Lauren loses her strength in an ocean swim and Hobie rescues her, Lauren’s parents decide to send her home. Hobie, unaware of Lauren’s condition, is crushed.
On the dat that Lauren is scheduled to leave Baywatch, Hobie, who overheard CJ and Jackie talking about Lovers Cove, takes Lauren there on a wave runner, where they pledge to love each other forever. Hobie, love-happy dives in the water, failing to notice the large man o’war jellyfish nearby. The jellyfish stings Hobie, temporarily paralyzing him. As Lauren jumps in to save him, Mitch and CJ board the Scarab and come to the aid of the young couple.
