Hobie befriends a boy who so wants his father’s attention that he’ll risk his life body surfing a dangerous rock formation known as “The Shredder.” Meanwhile, Caroline encourages an injured jockey to race once more.
When a young boy almost drowns surfing a rock formation known as “The Shredder,” Mitch closes down that section of beach to keep anyone from being killed. However, that doesn’t stop Hobie’s friend Isaac, who thinks by successfully surfing “The Shredder” he will gain his father’s attention. Hobie now must make a serious choice–either keep quiet about Isaac’s plans, which could turn deadly, or tell Mitch, which would get Isaac in trouble and worsen his relationship with his father.
Caroline befriends Corey Berens (Kent Desormeaux), a former world class jockey known as “The Cajun Kid.” A few years back, Corey took a dangerous spill from his horse during a race and lost his eyesight, permanently ending his career. But when Corey responds to some drowning children, Caroline realizes that he can see. Confronted by Caroline, Corey admits that he pretended to be blind because he is afraid to race again. Caroline encourages Corey to fight through his fear. When Corey is provoked by Lance Kincaid, the jockey responsible for Corey’s accident, Corey challenges Kincaid to a horse race on the beach, with the winner taking the loser’s horse.
