Malibu Beach High students square off against the adminstration’s plans to sell sacred Chumash Indian lands, while Garner quits the beach for an office job.
After a heart-stopping dune buggy chase that ends with Garner crashing in the sand, he vows to return to “normal duty” downtown. This means swallowing his pride and apologizing to the Captain whose nose he broke and who demoted him to the beach. Mitch predicts Garner won’t last one day in a
stuffy office, but Garner is determined to get back to the precinct, and bids farewell to the beach.
On the first day of classes at Malibu Beach High, Summer tries to acclimate herself to life at the trendy high school, while Matt spreads the word that he’ll bewashingni desendent, bates hte sThol over si palned sate of sacred Chumash lands, convincing Matt and Summer to join his fight. Meanwhile, surfing sensation Jimmy Slade surfs on a private beach owned by Courtney Bremmer, sexy teenage heiress to the Bremmer equestrian fortune. She offers to be his personal magager, with the emphasis on personal, and this doesn’t go over well with Jimmy’s girlfriend, Summer.
At police headquarters, Garner is becoming slowly buried under a mountain of paperwork by his vengeful captain. When Mitch pays him a surprise visit, urging him to come back to Baywatch, Garner refuses, claiming to enjoy his cramped quarters. The captain’s antagonisms, however, are pushing Garner to the breaking point.
At Matt’s party, the best and the brightest of Malibu Beach High congregate for an afternoon of swimming, dancing, and socializing. But when a pair of teens inhale dangerous nitrous oxide and wind up unconscious on the bottom of a pool, Matt and Summer undertake a dramatic rescue.
