Harvey and Mitch pursue and capture a disgruntled gambler turned high-seas pirate. Meanwhile, Eddie struggles with the disapproval of Shauni’s family.
Harvey is playing high-stakes poker on a yacht when Mitch shows up on his wave runner. Mitch orders Harvey out of the game and off the boat, but even he relents when he sees what a great hand Harvey has. As the stakes are raised, Harvey talks Mitch into throwing his Rolex into the pot. Harvey wins, but it is all for naught as a masked man storms the cabin and takes the winnings at gunpoint. Mitch and Harvey are shocked to see the thief escaping in an amphibious vehicle.
At a McClain family dinner, Robert, Shauni’s father, lets Eddie know in no uncertain terms that he doesn’t approve of Eddie or his relationship with Shauni. Eddie stomps out, but later agrees to attend Shauni’s sister Kim’s engagement party. He arrives to find Brown, a boorish yet affluent young man, pushing himself on Shauni. Without knowing that Brown had been hand- picked by Mr. McClain for Shauni, Eddie cleans his clock with one swift punch. Once again, he is persona non grata. Meanwhile, Kim accidentally drops her engagement ring in the pool and dives in after it. Her hand gets stuck in the drain and Eddie on his way out spots her in the pool. He frees her hand and brings her to safety, but Robert still can’t see Eddie as the man in Shauni’s life.
Mitch and Harvey interview Miles, an inventor who has been developing an “Amphi-Ranger,” similar to the one used by the poker pirate. Miles confesses that his debt-plagued partner stole the other prototype a few months back. Miles’ story doesn’t hold up, though, and Mitch and Harvey return to the lab. They narrowly avoid being run down by Miles in the Amphi-Ranger, and a land and sea chase follows. Mitch jumps aboard the Ranger and knocks out Miles, who is later arrested.
Shauni, frustrated at her father’s refusal to accept her love for Eddie, resolves to leave home and move into Eddie’s houseboat.
