The Baywatch crew crack a seaborne drug ring, and Ben finds love with an aging movie star.
It’s a scorcher at Baywatch in more ways that one. While Eddie surveys the beach, afire-eater on a bad batch of designer drugs spews forth a jet of flame that razes his guard tower.
Meanwhile, Mitch is busy convincing Captain Thorpe that the powerful wave runner watercraft
will be a valuable lifesaving aid. Their expense is prohibitive and the county bureaucrats remain skeptical even after a demonstration. The designer drug manufacturers, it turns out, are one step ahead of
the police and have moved their operation offshore, creating a floating drug laboratory. Shauni and Eddie, assisted by the Coast Guard, take the Scarab out to investigate. When two high-speed “addictor” craft elude the Scarab and slip away from the sea-lab with the evidence, Mitch gets a chance to really display the value of a wave runner. Eddie and Shauni call for backup and Mitch, Newman, and Barnett hop on the wave runners. After a high-speed chase, they collar the culprits with the evidence.
Ben Edwards is lost in thoughts of the past. The James mansion on the Gold Coast opposite Baywatch is being readied for sale after 30 years of vacancy. Ben can’t help but think of his rookie summer when Hollywood star Maggie James lived there. That magic summer ended when Maggie mysteriously left town. She hasn’t been heard from since. When workmen start fixing up the mansion, Ben-fearing Maggie has died–goes there to reminisce. No one is more surprised than he is to see Maggie James appear. She has aged gracefully, and though they have led very different lives, they find they share many things in common. They talk late into the night, and the two star-crossed lovers rekindle a fire that began long ago.
